December 22, 2025 magical carpet ride through the Monday Musical Matinee

We kick things off with the Kodaks from 1958, "Oh Gee Oh Gosh." Then Joey D. and the Starlighters take us on the 1961 "Peppermint Twist."

We feature the number one songs from each Monday over three decades. December 22nd, 1968: "Heard it Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye. December 22nd 1978: "Le Freak" by CHIC  1988: Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison.

Random Pulls!!!!

I dive into mom's collection and grab a 45 and an album. I tried to cheat a little, seeing a red lined album, thinking it may be holiday themed. Instead, I pulled this gem, The MGM Sound Track Album Hank Williams' Life Story.
Released in October of 1964, it features songs all written by Hank Williams Sr, but performed by Hank Williams, Jr. We chose to play the Hank Williams Sr. version of Your Cheatin' Heart.

December 15th edition of Ron & Heather's Magical Monday Musical Matinee

We start with some Doo-wop hits on this December 15th edition.

"Lookin' For My Baby" by Larry Chance. If you listened to us live, you would have heard Ron's story of doing some work with Larry in the Poughkeepsie area back in the day.

"The Stroll" by The Diamonds.  Carol (Oh, Carole) by Chuck Berry.

Lost Dance Hit "I Want Your Love" by CHIC

Random 45 Pull "I'm Leaving It Up To You" by Dale and Grace from 1963. I randomly pulled this from mom's 45 collection, and Ron let me know my first favorite duo, Donnie and Marie, did a cover version!

Random Album Pull "Folsom Prison Blues", Johnny Cash's first live album from 1968.  However, since the original version of Folsom Prison Blues was released on this date, December 15th of 1955 by Sun records, we opted to play the original.

Lost Motown Hit "Take Me In Your Arms" by Kim Weston from 1965.

Each week we also feature a "Then and Now." We find an original song, then play a cover. Since Jerry Wallace was born on this date in 1928, I chose his song "Primrose Lane" from 1958. The cover is by OC Smith from 1970. Which version do you prefer?

In honor of Cindy Birdsong's 86th birthday we played "Up The Ladder To The Roof."

Welcome to Ron & Heather's Monday Musical Matinee!

I begin this webpage on the one year anniversary of our radio journey!

We started planning a weekly radio show in December of 2024. Since our first show that month, we now do a weekly two-hour radio broadcast on WBTN in Bennington, Vermont.

Over the past year, we've created franchises which include playing lost Motown hits, one hit wonders and number one songs of the day in the 60's, 70's and 80's. We also created "Then & Now," where we play an original tune and then a cover back to back. We then discuss which we prefer and why. I also do a "Random Album Pull" from my mom's collection which sometimes takes us back to the 50's. I also do a "Random 45 Pull."
